What We Believe
1. The Word of God
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
2. The Trinity
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, that they are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.
a. God The Father
We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
b. Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His Lordship, substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people as High Priest, and His second coming. We believe that salvation is found in no other name, that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.
c. Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son, to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, seals eternally, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.
We believe that all men by nature and by choice are sinners, but that “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” We believe therefore, that those who accept Christ as Lord and Savior will rejoice forever in God’s presence, and those who refuse to accept Christ as Lord and Savior will be forever separated from God.
4. The Church
We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work, and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.
5. The Ordinances
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the believer, and thus to the local church -- baptism and the Lord’s Supper. They are not necessary for salvation, but are steps of obedience. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the triune God; a testimony that our old nature has been put to death and that we have been raised to new life through Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is the partaking of the symbolic elements of bread and fruit of the vine, representing the broken body and the atoning blood as a remembrance of the death of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
6. Christian Conduct
As modeled by our Lord Jesus Christ, we desire to live lives that glorify God by loving God and loving people; that our conduct should be blameless before the world; that we should seek to realize for our self and others the full stature of maturity in Christ. Recognizing that all legitimate authority comes from God to whom we are ultimately accountable, we willingly submit ourselves to these authorities as outlined in Scripture: citizens to civil authorities, church members to church leadership, wives to husbands, children to parents, and employees to employers.
However, we are under no obligation to obey any unlawful or ungodly authority that requires us to disobey God. Husbands must love their wives, just as Christ loved the church, and gave Himself up for her to make her holy. When wronged we will not seek retribution, but only such remedies that will allow us to restore fellowship where possible, and make every effort to live in peace.
7. The Security of the Saints
We believe that all who are truly born again are kept by God the Father for Jesus Christ.
